David and Fred discuss retirement planning. One of the most interesting questions is whether it is a good thing to take your CPP early at a reduced rate or wait until you qualify for the full pension.
Along with the discussion of pensions, Fred and David get into another lengthy discussion about financial planning with examples of when it pays to use your savings to pay off consumer debt, as well as why and how to make loans and mortgages tax deductible.
Fred has some very fixed ideas about why some people get stuck with ineffective investments and why some brokers and agents simply don't advise people the best ways to do things.
